Gujranwala Division Reviews Environmental Approval Cases to Strengthen Environmental Compliance

GUJRAT: The 16th meeting of the Divisional Environmental Approval Committee, Gujrat, was held under the chairmanship of Gujranwala and Gujrat Division Commissioner Muhammad Ali to review development proposals from an environmental protection and regulatory compliance perspective.

Deputy Director Environment Gujrat Osama Majid briefed the committee on the cases presented for consideration and provided details regarding their environmental requirements and regulatory status.

The meeting reviewed 24 cases related to poultry farms, one case involving a brick kiln and three cases concerning commercial buildings. Cases meeting the applicable rules and environmental requirements were approved, while one poultry farm case was deferred for further review.

Commissioner Muhammad Ali stressed the need for effective implementation of environmental laws and strict compliance with prescribed rules and regulations during development and commercial activities.

He emphasised that environmental protection should remain an integral part of development planning and directed relevant authorities to ensure that projects comply with environmental standards before receiving the required approvals.

The meeting reflects continued efforts by the divisional administration to strengthen environmental governance, promote regulatory compliance and ensure that development activities are carried out in line with principles of environmental protection and sustainable development.
