ISLAMABAD, September 11, 2026: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Pakistan organised a one-day training in Islamabad on Post-Disaster Impact Assessment for Agriculture, bringing together government officials and FAO staff working across crops, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding and practical skills in assessing disaster-related damage, losses and recovery needs across the agriculture sector.
Participants were introduced to data collection tools and geospatial approaches that can support more accurate and timely assessments following disasters. Such assessments are critical for identifying priority needs and guiding recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
With climate-related disasters increasingly affecting agricultural production and rural livelihoods, strengthening institutional capacity to assess impacts is becoming increasingly important.
The training highlighted the role of reliable data and evidence in supporting effective disaster response, resilient food systems and better-informed recovery planning.
FAO Pakistan continues to support capacity building and technical knowledge aimed at helping stakeholders strengthen preparedness, improve disaster risk management and build greater resilience across the agriculture sector.
