PMD Conducts Fire Emergency Mock Exercise to Test Preparedness

ISLAMABAD, September 11, 2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) conducted a fire extinguishing mock exercise at its headquarters in Islamabad to assess emergency preparedness and response capacity in the event of a fire emergency.

The exercise was designed to evaluate how quickly the department could respond to a simulated fire incident and whether the required emergency response measures could be activated within the prescribed time.

The mock exercise also assessed the effectiveness of pre-emptive safety measures adopted at PMD Headquarters and the preparedness of relevant personnel to deal with a potential fire emergency.

Such drills provide an opportunity to identify gaps in emergency procedures, strengthen coordination among staff and improve institutional readiness to respond to unforeseen incidents.

The exercise reaffirmed PMD’s focus on workplace safety, emergency preparedness and the protection of personnel and public infrastructure.
