GUJRANWALA: The Environmental Protection Department Gujranwala has intensified enforcement of environmental regulations, sealing six BBQ outlets for operating without the required suction hood facilities.
The enforcement action was carried out by the Environmental Protection Force under the supervision of Deputy Director Environment Muhammad Imran Mayo, following directions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Commissioner Gujranwala and Gujrat Division Muhammad Ali, and Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed.
Assistant Director Environment Naveed Ahmed, along with members of the Environmental Protection Force, led the operation against BBQ points found operating without proper suction hood systems.
The sealed outlets were located in different areas of Model Town, Gondlanwala Road, Satellite Town and Fareed Town.
According to environmental officials, suction hood systems are important for controlling smoke and cooking emissions generated by commercial BBQ and food outlets, helping reduce localized air pollution and improve environmental conditions in densely populated areas.
Deputy Director Environment Muhammad Imran Mayo said the department would continue enforcing environmental laws and would not allow hotels, marriage halls or BBQ points to operate without the required suction hood facilities.
He warned that action would be taken against establishments found violating environmental regulations and urged commercial businesses to comply with prescribed environmental standards.
The enforcement drive reflects the department’s ongoing efforts to control sources of air pollution and promote a cleaner and healthier environment across Gujranwala.
