Punjab Government Urges Public to Join Efforts for Cleaner Air and Greener Environment

LAHORE, September 7, 2026: The Government of Punjab has called upon citizens to play an active role in reducing smoke and air pollution, emphasizing that collective public action is essential for building a cleaner, greener and healthier province.

Through an environmental awareness message, the provincial government described smoke as a silent killer, highlighting the serious threat posed by air pollution to public health and the environment.

The government said it is taking measures to promote a cleaner and greener Punjab, but stressed that government efforts alone cannot address the growing challenge of pollution. Citizens, communities and businesses also have an important role to play in reducing activities that contribute to poor air quality.

The public has been encouraged to adopt environmentally responsible practices, minimize unnecessary smoke and support initiatives aimed at improving air quality and expanding green cover across the province.

Environmental pollution, particularly air pollution, can affect respiratory health and overall quality of life while also contributing to wider environmental challenges. Reducing emissions and promoting cleaner practices can therefore provide benefits for both people and ecosystems.

The Punjab government urged citizens to become partners in its efforts to create a more eco-friendly province and emphasized that small individual actions, when adopted collectively, can contribute to meaningful environmental improvement.

The awareness campaign carries a simple message: building a greener Punjab is a shared responsibility.

“Together, we can breathe cleaner and live healthier,” the government said, calling on citizens to contribute to the vision of a cleaner, greener and healthier Punjab.
Clean Air. Green Punjab. Healthy Future.
