Faisalabad: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Faisalabad has intensified enforcement against banned single-use plastic bags, conducting an inspection drive across Tehsil Tandlianwala to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
During the operation, EPA teams inspected various shops and commercial outlets and confiscated 313 kilograms of single-use plastic bags measuring less than 75 microns from vendors found violating the ban.
The enforcement action is part of ongoing efforts to curb the use of thin plastic bags and reduce plastic pollution across Faisalabad district.
EPA officials emphasized the need for shopkeepers and vendors to comply with environmental regulations and adopt reusable and environmentally friendly alternatives to single-use plastic bags.
Thin plastic bags can contribute to littering, clog drainage systems and contaminate land and water resources, creating long-term environmental challenges for urban and rural communities.
The agency said enforcement activities would continue across the district to discourage the production, sale and use of banned plastic bags and promote cleaner surroundings.
EPA Faisalabad urged citizens and businesses to support efforts to make the district plastic-free by reducing reliance on disposable plastics and choosing sustainable alternatives.
