MANSEHRA: The body of a foreign tourist who had been missing for the past three days in Siran Valley, Mansehra, was recovered from the Chaho Lar area near Paracha following an extensive search operation in the difficult mountainous terrain.
Forest Department personnel played an active role in the search operation, continuing their efforts day and night despite challenging terrain, steep slopes and difficult access routes.
On the directions of the Secretary Forest, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and under the supervision of the Chief Conservator of Forests, Hazara Region, and Conservator of Forests, Lower Hazara, staff of the Forest Department joined the search efforts and conducted continuous searches across the mountainous area.
According to officials, young Forest Guards Syed Safdar Shah and Zeeshan played a key role in locating the missing tourist after three days of intensive searching.
Staff of the Siran Forest Division were reportedly the first to spot and recover the body from the area. They subsequently informed the police and other teams, who reached the location to proceed with the necessary formalities.
The search operation was conducted in difficult mountainous conditions, requiring personnel to navigate challenging and remote routes while continuing the search for the missing tourist.
The Forest Department’s participation in the operation highlighted the role of its frontline staff beyond their routine responsibilities of protecting forests and natural resources.
Officials appreciated the dedication and courage demonstrated by the forest personnel, particularly those who remained involved in the search despite the demanding terrain and prolonged operation.
The recovery also underscored the importance of coordination among the Forest Department, police, rescue teams and local administration when dealing with emergencies in remote mountainous areas.
