KARACHI: A tree plantation drive was organised at Government Boys School Muslim Popular 11-B in North Karachi to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to take an active role in building a greener Pakistan.
The plantation activity was organised by Shahroz Siraj, Tree Plantation Ambassador, Pakistan Red Crescent-Sindh Branch, with the support of Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited.
Students were briefed on the importance of trees and plants, environmental protection and the need for greater community participation in plantation activities.
As part of the initiative, students actively participated in planting flowering and fruit-bearing plants on the school premises. The activity provided them with a practical opportunity to understand the role of trees in creating healthier and more sustainable surroundings.
The organisers said involving young people in plantation activities can help develop a stronger sense of environmental responsibility from an early age. Such initiatives also encourage students to become ambassadors of tree plantation and environmental protection within their schools, families and communities.
Hammad Khan, Vice President of Green Hands of Pakistan, also attended the plantation activity and supported the initiative aimed at promoting environmental stewardship among students.
The organisers emphasised the importance of continued plantation and care of trees, noting that creating a greener Pakistan requires sustained participation from communities, educational institutions, businesses and young people.
The activity concluded with a call for greater public participation in tree plantation and environmental conservation efforts across the country.
The initiative highlighted how schools can serve as important centres for environmental education, while giving students a direct role in creating greener and healthier communities.
