EPA Bhakkar Cracks Down on Prohibited Plastic Bags, 118kg Confiscated

BHAKKAR: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Bhakkar has intensified enforcement against the use of prohibited plastic bags as part of efforts to curb plastic pollution and promote a cleaner environment.

During an enforcement operation on August 31, 2026, EPA officials confiscated 118 kilograms of prohibited plastic bags from a violator and imposed a fine of Rs5,000.

The action reflects the agency’s continued efforts to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and discourage practices contributing to plastic pollution.

EPA Bhakkar emphasized that plastic waste poses serious risks to the environment and public health, particularly when plastic bags enter streets, drains, waterways and other natural areas.

The agency reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards plastic pollution and urged citizens and businesses to avoid prohibited plastic bags and adopt environmentally responsible alternatives.

The enforcement campaign is part of broader efforts to support a cleaner and greener Punjab, while encouraging communities to play an active role in reducing plastic waste.
