Illegal Bird Captor Fined After Wildlife Rescue Operation in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Wildlife authorities in Islamabad apprehended an individual allegedly involved in the illegal capture of wild birds and successfully rescued the captured birds before releasing them back into their natural habitat.

According to wildlife officials, the individual was taken into custody during an enforcement action against the illegal capture of birds. The rescued birds were subsequently released into the wild, allowing them to return to their natural environment.

The matter was presented before the Area Magistrate, who initiated legal proceedings and imposed a fine on the individual under the relevant provisions of the applicable wildlife protection law.

Wildlife authorities reiterated that the illegal capture, possession and trade of wild birds pose a serious threat to biodiversity and natural ecosystems.

Officials urged citizens not to purchase or keep illegally captured wild birds and to report activities involving wildlife trafficking or illegal capture to the relevant authorities.

The enforcement action highlights ongoing efforts to protect Islamabad’s wildlife and strengthen implementation of laws aimed at safeguarding the country’s natural biodiversity.
