CHAKWAL, Aug. 6: Deputy Commissioner Sarah Hayat inaugurated a fully operational water filtration plant in Dandot, restoring access to clean and safe drinking water for local residents after the project had remained inactive for nearly three years.
The filtration plant was originally constructed by the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority but could not be commissioned because the contractor failed to install a dedicated water bore, leaving the facility incomplete and non-functional.
Officials said that, following the Deputy Commissioner’s special efforts, the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority completed a new bore for the project, providing the plant with an independent and reliable water source. The facility is now fully operational and supplying safe drinking water to the residents of Dandot and surrounding areas.
During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner also paid tribute at the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid a floral tribute, and honored the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes. She later participated in the ongoing tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling to promote environmental conservation.
The Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated a new NADRA office block established at the Union Council Secretary Office. The new facility will enable residents of Dandot and nearby villages to access essential NADRA services locally, eliminating the need to travel to Choa Saidan Shah for identity-related documentation and reducing both travel time and expenses.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarah Hayat appreciated the dedicated efforts of Raja Mujahid Afsar for his role in facilitating the establishment of the NADRA office and helping bring the project to completion. She also acknowledged the commitment of NADRA Director Naseem, whose continuous follow-up and administrative support ensured the timely completion of all technical and operational requirements, allowing the facility to become fully functional.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the district administration’s commitment to improving public services and ensuring better access to clean drinking water and essential civic facilities for residents across Chakwal district.
