ABBOTTABAD, Aug. 6: The District Administration Abbottabad, in collaboration with the District Youth Office Abbottabad and Shelter of Hope Organization, organized a panel discussion titled “Nature Awareness and Future Solutions” at the District Council Hall, Abbottabad, to promote environmental awareness and sustainable development.
The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including the Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad, faculty members from COMSATS University, officials from the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), WASCA, the District Youth Office, and students from various educational institutions across the district.
A major highlight of the session was the participation of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Galies Forest Division, who addressed participants’ questions on forest conservation, biodiversity, climate change, and environmental protection. The interactive discussion was facilitated by the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Abbottabad and the Community Development Officer (CDO) Galies, encouraging meaningful dialogue on climate resilience and sustainable environmental practices.
Speakers emphasized the importance of engaging young people in environmental stewardship and stressed that collective efforts by government institutions, academia, civil society, and local communities are essential to addressing climate change and protecting Pakistan’s natural resources.
The event concluded with a tree plantation campaign, formally inaugurated by the Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad, who planted a Deodar sapling as a symbol of the region’s rich forest heritage and commitment to environmental conservation.
Saplings of various indigenous tree species were also distributed among participants, encouraging students and community members to actively contribute to increasing the district’s green cover and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
Officials described the event as an important step toward strengthening environmental awareness, inspiring youth participation in climate action, and promoting a greener and more sustainable future for Abbottabad.
