ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has intensified drainage operations across the federal capital following heavy monsoon rains, successfully bringing the flood-like situation in low-lying areas under control.
On the directions of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sahibzada Yousaf, all Assistant Commissioners remained in the field to supervise relief activities and ensure the smooth execution of drainage operations. The ADC (General) also monitored the operation in real time.
According to the district administration, rainwater is being drained rapidly from various localities and low-lying areas, while additional sanitation staff have been deployed to address complaints of water accumulation.
Officials said traffic flow has been fully restored on all major roads after the timely clearance of rainwater.
Sahibzada Yousaf said pre-monsoon cleaning of drains had been completed to improve the city’s preparedness, while special monitoring teams were formed to keep a close watch on drainage channels during rainfall.
He added that Assistant Commissioners, along with sanitation teams, remain on the ground around the clock to ensure uninterrupted drainage operations. Continuous monitoring of residential areas, commercial centres and major roads is also underway to promptly respond to any emerging situation.
