Students from six countries gather in Malaysia for Beaconhouse convention

KUALA LUMPUR — Students from six countries participated in the Beaconhouse International Student Convention (BISC) held in Malaysia this February, marking the event’s tenth edition.

The two-day gathering brought together participants from Beaconhouse schools in Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Thailand, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates. Organized under the theme “Global Connections for Common Goals,” the convention aimed to promote collaboration across borders through academic dialogue, sports, creativity, and technology-driven engagement.

Students competed and collaborated in four arenas: Sports, Creative, Knowledge, and Gaming. Discussions addressed global challenges including climate responsibility, digital access, and intercultural understanding.

Focus on debate and innovation

A debating segment was introduced this year to enhance the convention’s academic focus. In addition, SparkTank@BISC encouraged entrepreneurship through cross-border teamwork.

Ahead of the convention, students participated in four virtual mentoring sessions led by Beaconhouse-Yamsaard Thailand. Teams composed of members from different countries developed joint business ideas before presenting their final pitches to judges in Kuala Lumpur.

Results and milestones

Pakistan was named overall BISC Champion 2026, while Malaysia secured second place. The Philippines retained the BISC Icon title for the third consecutive year.

Swimming competitions also drew attention, with new records set in both boys’ and girls’ categories.

Organizers said the convention continues to serve as a platform for international engagement and long-term student collaboration.
