LAHORE (Feb 11, 2026): The 11th MCAP-BNU International Media Conference concluded at Beaconhouse National University, drawing academics, journalists and policymakers to examine the evolving role of media in society.
Organized by Media and Communication Academic Professionals (MCAP) in collaboration with BNU, the two-day conference was held under the theme “Reclaiming Hope: Media, Activism & Social Justice.” Participants discussed ethical journalism, digital transformation, media activism and the need for inclusive storytelling.
The event was inaugurated by BNU Vice Chancellor Dr. Moeed Yusuf along with Javed Jabbar and other distinguished guests. In his address, Dr. Yusuf highlighted the importance of strengthening media literacy and encouraging critical engagement with information in an era of rapid technological change.
Focus on emerging technologies and collaboration
Conference sessions explored a range of topics, including digital inclusion, ethical challenges in contemporary journalism and the impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on media practices. A workshop on “Chinese Art in the Digital Age” reflected the conference’s emphasis on cross-cultural academic exchange.
Discussions also underscored the significance of regional media cooperation, particularly China-Pakistan collaboration, as well as cross-border academic partnerships aimed at enhancing mutual understanding.
Academic exchange and recognition
The conference featured international scholars and national panellists from across Pakistan, fostering dialogue between researchers and practitioners. Parallel research sessions, technical workshops and career counselling forums were held to encourage professional development and academic networking.
During the closing ceremony, Javed Jabbar was presented with a lifetime achievement award in recognition of his longstanding contributions to media and communications.
Organizers said the conference reaffirmed the role of universities and media institutions in promoting informed citizenship, responsible reporting and constructive regional engagement.
