ISLAMABAD, February 9, 2026 — Islamabad’s district administration and police leadership on Monday held a high-level coordination meeting to strengthen security arrangements across the federal capital, following directions from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Inspector General of Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Senior officials from both the district administration and police department were in attendance.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the overall law and order situation in Islamabad and discussed steps to enhance security at the divisional level, with the aim of making the entire city safer for residents and visitors.
Randhawa said that, on the interior minister’s instructions, a comprehensive security strategy is being implemented to improve public safety in the federal capital within the next seven days. He added that surveillance, traffic monitoring, and inter-departmental coordination would be further strengthened.
Inspector General Rizvi said monitoring of Islamabad’s entry and exit routes would be enhanced through modern technology. He added that security coverage would be increased across the city, including sensitive locations such as the Red Zone and the Diplomatic Enclave.
The meeting also reviewed progress under the Islamabad Safe City project. Officials said that modern CCTV cameras and digital monitoring systems are being used to oversee major highways, commercial centres, and residential sectors, enabling timely response to criminal activity and security threats.
Briefings during the meeting revealed that a door-to-door survey has been completed in urban areas of Islamabad, while similar surveys in rural localities are nearing completion. It was decided that individuals involved in suspicious activities would be closely monitored, with comprehensive data records maintained to support preventive policing.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach, Randhawa said no compromise would be made against criminal elements, and all available resources would be utilized to protect the lives, property, and dignity of citizens. He also directed relevant departments to further improve coordination to ensure effective implementation of security measures.
Officials said increased patrolling and enhanced surveillance on all entry and exit routes would continue as part of efforts to improve law and order and prevent crime across the federal capital.
