RAWALPINDI, Feb 5, 2026 — The Pakistan Armed Forces on Kashmir Solidarity Day reaffirmed their support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), emphasizing the right of Kashmiris to self-determination and urging the international community to address the ongoing situation in the region.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the armed forces said the message was conveyed on behalf of the services by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.
The statement condemned what it described as serious human rights violations in IIOJK, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions. It also expressed concern over alleged efforts to change the demographic and political character of the disputed territory.
Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding position, the armed forces said a peaceful and lasting settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is essential for regional peace and stability. The statement stressed that any resolution must be in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and reflect the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The armed forces called on the international community to take concrete steps to alleviate the humanitarian situation in IIOJK and to ensure accountability for alleged rights violations.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the Pakistan Armed Forces’ commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while maintaining solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for freedom and dignity.
