Rawalpindi, January 29, 2026 — Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Bahawalpur Garrison on Wednesday, where he was briefed on the operational, training, and administrative readiness of the formation, with particular focus on preparations for multi-domain warfare, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the visit, the COAS & CDF observed a high-intensity field exercise, “Steadfast Resolve,” conducted at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT). The exercise showcased the integration of modern battlefield technologies, including unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance capabilities, electronic warfare assets, and contemporary command-and-control mechanisms, reflecting the Pakistan Army’s evolving approach to technology-enabled operations.
Focus on future warfare and force transformation
Addressing the troops, Field Marshal Asim Munir commended their high morale, professional competence, and operational preparedness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining optimum readiness to meet future battlefield and security challenges.
The army chief noted that the character of warfare has undergone significant transformation due to rapid technological advancements. He highlighted that future conflicts will increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than traditional physical manoeuvres, fundamentally altering the conduct of offensive and defensive operations. In this context, he said, the Pakistan Armed Forces are actively embracing innovation, indigenisation, and adaptation across multiple domains.
Education, skills development, and logistics review
Earlier in the day, the COAS & CDF inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), an initiative aimed at promoting digital skills and learning opportunities for students, particularly from Southern Punjab and other parts of the country. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reiterating the army’s commitment to quality education and character-building initiatives.
Later, Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance regimes designed to sustain modern military platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation, and combat support measures.
Upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, the COAS & CDF was received by the Commander Bahawalpur Corps. He laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
