Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visits National Police Academy Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Jan 19, 2026: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), visited the National Police Academy, where he reviewed police training initiatives and interacted with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Federal Minister for Interior and the Minister of State for Interior were also present on the occasion.

Upon arrival, the Field Marshal was received by the Commandant of the academy and presented with a guard of honour. He laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha, paying tribute to police personnel who embraced martyrdom while performing duties related to law enforcement, counter-terrorism, and internal security.

During the visit, the Field Marshal was briefed on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development (SHIELD) and other ongoing programmes focused on professional capacity building and police modernisation. He later interacted with Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), emphasising that the police constitute the first line of defence in protecting citizens’ lives, property, and dignity.

Addressing senior police leadership, including Inspectors General of Police and Additional IGPs, he highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination, adoption of modern policing methods, and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement institutions. He reaffirmed that the Armed Forces would continue to fully support the police in maintaining internal security and the rule of law.

Senior police officials reaffirmed their commitment to institutional reforms, professional excellence, and improved service delivery to meet evolving security challenges.
