Lahore: A delegation from AFD held a meeting at the NGC headquarters in WAPDA House, Lahore, to review progress on financed transmission projects and discuss potential future collaboration. The delegation was led by AFD Director for Asia, Cyrille Bellier, and included Regional Director Yazid Bensaid, Country Director Baptiste Deniau, Head of Energy Division Ouafae Sananes, and Energy & Development Team Lead Nauman Bhutta.
Review of AFD-supported power transmission initiatives
NGC officials, including General Manager (Design & Engineering) Engr. Taqi Ud Din, General Manager (Technical) Engr. Shahid Shafi Sial, and senior engineering staff, briefed the visiting delegation on the status of AFD-funded power transmission projects. Chief Engineer PMU Engr. Muhammad Tahir presented updates on implementation timelines and financial performance.
Discussion on upcoming projects and financing interest
The meeting also covered planned NGC transmission projects that may be taken up in future phases. According to officials, AFD expressed interest in examining financing options for the proposed Ludewala Upgradation Project as part of its ongoing cooperation in Pakistan’s power sector.
Commitment to continued sector engagement
AFD representatives noted the importance of coordinated planning in transmission development and discussed areas for continued engagement with NGC as Pakistan expands its grid capacity. Both sides agreed to maintain consultations on project requirements and technical priorities.
