Indian actress Preity Zinta has urged the Indian government to introduce a law mandating chemical castration for individuals convicted of sexual offenses.
Her proposal comes in the wake of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s efforts to implement a similar law in Italy.
Taking to the microblogging platform X, Zinta praised the Italian initiative, calling it a commendable step. She expressed hope that the Indian government might consider such a measure in the future.
The actress also posed a question to her followers, asking if this isn’t the right time to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to such heinous crimes.
While the Italian government has already formed a committee to discuss the legislation, Zinta remains optimistic that India will follow suit in introducing stricter measures against sexual offenses.
