Bahawalpur: The FIA Bahawalpur Circle has arrested a fugitive human smuggler involved in the illegal trafficking of individuals to European countries. Acting on the directives of Director FIA Multan, Khalid Anees, and under the supervision of Deputy Director FIA Bahawalpur Circle, Tariq Mehmood, SHO Circle Bahawalpur Muhammad Shiraz, along with a team comprising Muhammad Junaid, Muhammad Maqsood, Muhammad Waseem, Zahid Muneer, Jamshed Akhtar, and Muhammad Shahid, conducted a raid on Haroonabad Road, Bahawalnagar, and apprehended the gang leader, Khalid Umar Farooq.
The suspect used to lure naive citizens by promising illegal immigration to Libya and European countries, extorting large sums of money. Subsequently, through his operatives based in Libya, he would have them imprisoned or kidnapped and then demand hefty ransoms from their families. Multiple cases have been registered against Khalid Umar Farooq based on complaints from various citizens, and he had been on the run for quite some time. However, SHO Muhammad Shiraz of FIA Circle Bahawalpur used professional and technical skills to arrest him. Raids have been launched to apprehend other members of the gang.
