Islamabad: Under the Literary Organization “Zawiya”, with the special support of Pakistan Academy of Letters and Dabistan-e-Pothohar, Islamabad, the first collection of poems of well-known poet, researcher and educationist Dr. Mahnaz Anjum was organized. The event was presided over by the country’s well-known poet, writer and critic Mr. Ali Muhammad Farshi, while Dr. Rafiq Sandelvi and Dr. Waheed Ahmed were the special guests. Mr. Muhammad Hameed Shahid, Dr. Ravish Nadeem and Mr. Munir Fayaz expressed their views.
Addressing the ceremony, Ali Muhammad Farshi said that Mahnaz Anjum’s poetry creates a triangle in the context of feminine, existential and love. It has metaphors, similes and freshness of style. Her flight of thought and curves of imagination make a poem a work of art. He called “Reshmi Khawabon ki neeli raakh” a complete work of art and giving an example of a poem like Sun-Yas, he said that no one has created such a work of art in the entire Urdu poem, it is the exclusiveness of Mahnaz Anjum.
Dr. Rafiq Sandelvi said that Mahnaz Anjum has made his place in effective poetry with great speed and in fact this place has the status of “place”, illuminated by the seven-color manifestation of her existence. The quantifiable combination of metaphor, myth, and symbolism gives poems a new and fertile ground.
Dr. Waheed Ahmed said that whenever the talk of feminism comes to Mahnaz Anjum, it does not become a slogan but it becomes a creative art piece. He said that Mahnaz Anjum has written Ruh-e-Asr and his era can be seen in her poems.
Mr. Muhammad Hameed Shahid said that the great poets and critics of Urdu poetry are present here to welcome the book of Mahnaz Anjum, this is the proof of the popularity of her book. He said that in the background of her poems, Mahnaz Anjum’s knowledge, experience, observation and research on the subject of the poem plays pivotal role. Her language is clear and transparent, she has her own linguistic structure and separate intellectual world.
Dr. Ravish Nadeem said that Dr. Mahnaz Anjum’s poem seems to be expanding the tradition of modern Urdu poetry. There is a special spirit of love in her poems. She is well aware of her existence. She has presented the female existence, problems and exploitation very skillfully.
Mr. Munir Fayyaz in his address called this book an important addition to the modern urdu poetry. According to him, the impression of Dr. Mahnaz Anjum’s poem is very rich. She also has the courage to create new images, create on new meters and bring new themes. Her style is quite unique. Basically, it is a poem of style and craft, the images are brilliant and the use of symbolism is also skillful.
