Mumbai: Bollywood director Kiran Rao has said that she married superstar Aamir Khan only because of her parents’ wishes and hence the marriage could not last.

According to Indian media, Kiran Rao in a recent interview said that she was in a “live-in” relationship with Aamir Khan for a year and then her parents insisted that she marry Aamir.

Kiran Rao said that there is social pressure on her and Amir Khan because in our society it is not considered good for men and women to live together without marriage. So I decided to marry Amir Khan only on the wishes of my parents and then we got married.

The woman said that life is very difficult for the family because after marriage, all the responsibilities fall on the woman; she manages the household and children alone, takes care of the whole family and is responsible for the happiness of her in-laws. A wife is expected to be friendly with her husband’s family, and I think this expectation is misplaced.Kiran Rao said that for me, these responsibilities are biased and dangerous. Due to these unnecessary responsibilities, most women are afraid of marriage.

She also said that the main reason I broke up with Amir Khan was because of this responsibility, even after the breakup, we remained friends and we raised our son together.

In 1996, Aamir Khan married Reena Dutta, with whom he had a son, Junaid Khan, and a daughter, Ira Khan, but the couple divorced after 16 years of marriage.

After his divorce from Reena Dutta, Aamir Khan married Kiran Rao in 2005 and had a son, Azad Khan. The actor’s second marriage also failed and both divorced in 2021.
