TOBA TEK SINGH: The distribution of agricultural land allotment certificates has begun for 596 successful farmers selected on merit under the Punjab government’s “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” programme in Toba Tek Singh.
The certificates were distributed at a ceremony attended by Deputy Commissioner Maham Asif Malik as the chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Waqar Akbar Cheema, Assistant Commissioners, local leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), district officials, and a large number of farmers also participated.
Deputy Commissioner Maham Asif Malik, ADC (Revenue) Waqar Akbar Cheema, and other officials presented allotment certificates to the successful beneficiaries.
Addressing the ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner described the programme as a historic and transformative initiative for Punjab’s agriculture sector. She said farmers are the backbone of the national economy, and the government is committed to improving their livelihoods through practical support.
She said the programme aims to provide government agricultural land to deserving landless farmers selected through a transparent merit-based process. In addition to farmland, beneficiaries will also receive technical guidance and agricultural support to help them establish sustainable sources of income.
ADC (Revenue) Waqar Akbar Cheema said the entire selection process was completed through a modern digital system, including scrutiny, appeals, and transparent balloting to ensure fairness.
According to officials, more than 1,391 acres of government agricultural land are being distributed among eligible farmers in Toba Tek Singh under the initiative.
A total of 6,950 applications were received from across the district, with 596 beneficiaries selected through a transparent computerized draw.
The beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, saying the allocation of government farmland would provide them with stable employment opportunities, improve their economic conditions, and enable them to support their families with dignity.
