Polio Virus Out of Control in Pakistan: 68 Cases Reported

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), with the reporting of a new case from Dera Ismail Khan, the polio virus outbreak in Pakistan continues to rise. The latest case has brought the total number of polio cases in the country to 68 this year. Dera Ismail Khan alone has recorded 10 cases, as confirmed by the Emergency Operation Center.

Balochistan is the most affected province with 27 cases, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 20 cases, and Sindh with 19. Punjab and Islamabad each reported one case.

The resurgence of the virus highlights the urgent need for vaccination and awareness campaigns to curb its spread. Health authorities are urging parents to vaccinate their children to protect them from this debilitating disease.
