Pakistan’s First Sindhi Feature Film to Premiere at Jaipur Film Festival

Directed by Rahul Ejaz, the Sindhi film “Sindho Ji Goonj” is based on the life of the people living along the Indus River. The premiere at the Jaipur Film Festival is being hailed as a historic moment for Pakistan’s film industry. This feature film marks the first Sindhi film to be released since “Himmat”, which was last released in cinemas in 1997.

The film is a collaboration between three international film studios, with production contributions from Pakistan, South Korea, and Bangladesh. Renowned Pakistani actor Shamoon Abbasi serves as the executive producer of the film.

The world premiere of “Sindho Ji Goonj” was held in Karachi on January 16, 2025, at Cinepax Cinemas, Ocean Mall. However, the release date for other cinemas in Pakistan is yet to be announced. The film will be showcased at the Jaipur Film Festival on January 21. Pakistani cinema enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting its release in local theaters.
