Pakistan in search of foreign coach to lead cricket team

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched a frantic hunt for a foreign coach for the national cricket team.

Inside sources have indicated that Shane Watson, the former Australian all-rounder and current captain of Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9, is seriously considering the prestigious role.

Sources indicated that the PCB bigwigs had engaged in discussions with Watson for the coaching position and considered him a formidable contender. With the upcoming series against New Zealand on the horizon, Watson could potentially take over the reins.

While Darren Sammy remains in contention for the coaching gig, Watson appears to be the frontrunner. A verdict on the coaching set-up is expected immediately before Pakistan’s upcoming clash with New Zealand.

Earlier it was reported that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is keen on building a robust team leadership for the T20 World Cup and intends to consult former cricketers on cricket related matters.

In his statement, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that new leadership often brings in its own team of advisors and staff.
