COMSATS University Islamabad Awards Degrees to Over 2,300 Graduates at 47th and 48th Convocations

Islamabad – COMSATS University Islamabad awarded degrees and medals to more than 2,300 graduates during its 47th and 48th convocation ceremonies held at the Jinnah Convention Center. The events were chaired by Executive Director COMSATS, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nafees Zakaria, who attended as Chief Guest. Rector Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, Incharge Campus Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, deans, directors, faculty members, students, and parents were present.

Academic Achievements Recognized

In the 47th convocation, 1,160 graduates received degrees, including 29 PhD scholars, along with 26 university medals for the Fall 2024 session. The 48th convocation honored 1,184 graduates, including 48 PhDs, with 54 medals awarded to students of the Spring 2025 session.

Rector Highlights Industry 5.0 and AI Transformation

Rector Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar congratulated the graduates and emphasized the need for Pakistani youth to prepare for Industry 5.0. He noted that artificial intelligence is reshaping professions and urged students to adapt to remain relevant. He added that COMSATS University aims to support students in becoming entrepreneurs and job creators.

COMSATS Mission for Science and Technology

Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Nafees Zakaria highlighted the importance of science and technology for socio-economic progress and national sovereignty. He said COMSATS’ mission is to strengthen scientific capacity in countries of the Global South, including Pakistan, to address development challenges. He encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurship and contribute innovative ideas to society.

Scholarships and Research Output

Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar shared that scholarships worth approximately PKR 80 million were awarded during the Fall 2025 semester. He noted that the campus hosts over 12,500 students, including 400 PhD scholars. Research publications reached 1,759 in the W category this year, reflecting the university’s strong research culture.

Continuing Global Reputation

The ceremonies concluded with the award of degrees and medals to graduating students. COMSATS University continues to build its global reputation by delivering quality education, advancing research, and preparing future leaders and professionals.
