Baby Gorilla Rescued from Cargo Plane

A baby gorilla was rescued from the cargo hold of a Turkish Airlines flight. According to US media, the 5-month-old gorilla was found last month in a cargo container of a Turkish Airlines flight traveling from Nigeria to Thailand. The gorilla was safely transferred to a zoo in Istanbul.

Wildlife authorities are working with officials to consider sending the gorilla back to the jungle.

The regional director of Istanbul Nature Conservation and National Parks said, “Our hope and priority is for this little gorilla to continue its life in its homeland.”

He also mentioned that it is essential to provide a safe place for the gorilla, which has gained weight and is showing signs of recovery since being rescued. This gorilla species, found in Central African forests and mountains, is endangered.
