KOHAT: Water and Sanitation Services Company Kohat disposed of 1816 ton of sacrificial animal waste during a three-day special Eid operation in the city.
Under a comprehensive special cleanliness plan, 1816 ton of animal waste has been disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner by following six campaigns in urbans and KDA, according to a statement issued here on Thursday.
Over 100 different vehicles include Suzuki Mini dumper, Garbage compactors, tractor trolleys, skip tractors, tractor shovels and excavators used in this cleanliness operation.
Apart from administrative officers, more than 445 staff took part in the special cleanliness operation.
The special cleanliness campaign was formally launched by member provincial assembly Daud Shah on the first day of the Eid from urban six tapi while provincial legislature Shafi Jan from police lane depot urban 2.
Deputy commissioner Hamid Iqbal, WSSCK CEO Arif Rauf also attended the inaugural ceremony. Both provincial legislators Daud Shah and Shafi Jan kicked off the special cleanliness drive by using shovels.
On the second day of the Eid, MNA Shehryar Afridi and Addl Deputy Commissioner Hamid Iqbal along with WSSCK Deputy General Manager Tahir Affaf and Chief Sanitatory Muhammad Sohail reviewed the overall cleanliness campaign in the city.
Around 232 collection points and 22 transfer stations in its jurisdictional areas were set up.
Social media and awareness campaigns were also carried out to create awareness about cleanliness among the general public. Pamphlets and around 2000 thousand biodegradable bags were also distributed in the campaign.
Senior officials of the WSSCK were present on the field to monitor cleanliness to avoid any inconvenience to people of the city.
Cleanliness operation completed by 11 pm on the first day of Eid. Complaint Cell remained open from 8 AM to 12 PM on all three days of Eid and 8 complaints regarding cleanliness and 12 regarding water were received from the public during Eid which were resolved on time.
During Eid-ul-Azha, the water supply staff also remained on duty for three days and ensured uninterrupted supply of water.
The wastes of the three days of sacrificial animal waste were dumped into a pit already dug at the dumping site and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner after the operation was over on the third day of Eid.
After the end of the cleaning operation, all the collection points were washed with fennel and lime to prevent the spread of germs.
