MULTAN: A delegation of the Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Society, represented by Major (Retd.) Sadaqat and Jodat Kamran Khan, met with Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Multan Zahid Ali and Additional Chief Wildlife Ranger South Punjab Sheikh Zahid to discuss wildlife conservation and issues faced by the hunting community.
The delegation congratulated the two senior wildlife officials on their recent appointments in Multan and expressed its commitment to working closely with the Wildlife Department to promote conservation and sustainable wildlife management.
During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on challenges faced by the hunting community, particularly difficulties in obtaining conservation permits and other regulatory matters related to lawful hunting activities.
The delegation also referred to an earlier meeting with former Director General Wildlife Mubeen Elahi in Lahore, where several recommendations were presented to facilitate the hunting community. These included proposals regarding the use of spring-powered air guns for hunting and pending requests to increase the number of permits for duck and partridge hunting, in accordance with applicable wildlife regulations.
Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Zahid Ali and Additional Chief Wildlife Ranger Sheikh Zahid assured the delegation that they would make every effort to pursue the pending proposals through the relevant authorities. They also reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the concerns of the hunting community at both provincial and local levels while ensuring compliance with wildlife conservation laws.
The officials appreciated the Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Society’s continued cooperation with the department and emphasized the importance of maintaining constructive engagement between government institutions and stakeholders to support responsible wildlife conservation and sustainable natural resource management.
