According to Indian media reports, a Bengaluru woman approached the High Court with an unusual complaint against her husband, claiming that he took better care of their pet cat than he did of her.
During the hearing, Justice Nagaprasana faced a curious situation when the woman stated that her husband paid more attention to their pet cat than to her. The woman also complained that when she raised concerns about this behavior, it resulted in arguments and insults, and that the cat had attacked her several times without her husband taking any action.
Justice Nagaprasna remarked that the court noted there were no specific allegations of abuse or harassment in the complaint. The woman’s grievances mainly centered on the husband’s preference for the cat over her. She claimed that every time she pointed this out, it led to fights and verbal abuse.
The judge noted that while the complaint referenced a marital dispute, it primarily revolved around the pet cat and the husband’s behavior towards it. Justice Nagaprasna further emphasized that the case wasn’t about dowry demands or abuse but about the wife’s concerns over the cat’s attacks and the husband’s lack of response.
After hearing the unusual petition, the court decided to halt further investigation into the husband’s actions and reprimanded the wife for making a frivolous complaint.
