James Clarkson, a 20-year-old trainee gas engineer from Carlisle, stunned everyone when he won a £7.5 million (around 80 crore rupees) jackpot. His win was impressive, as he had previously won £120 (approximately 12,676 rupees) in the National Lottery during Christmas, using his prize to buy more tickets.
Despite the enormous fortune, Clarkson chose to go back to his old job of cleaning blocked drains the very next day, surprising many. His unanticipated decision to continue working, even after becoming a millionaire overnight, has earned praise for his grounded attitude.
According to international news sources, Clarkson revealed that he had received a notification while assessing the snowfall in the morning, stating that he had won the National Lottery. Initially in disbelief, he confirmed his win when he called his father, who advised him to return home. By 9 a.m., he registered his win with the National Lottery.
What’s even more fascinating is that despite his massive windfall, Clarkson chose to return to his old job. He explained, “I’m not quitting my job. Some may think it’s crazy, but I’m not stopping. I want to be a qualified heating engineer.” He added, “I need a purpose in life, and my dad won’t let me quit. He says there are plenty of millionaires who still work and that you need a reason to get up every day.”
