Iranian singer, 27-year-old Parasto Ahmadi, has found herself in serious trouble for performing without wearing a hijab during a virtual concert.
According to reports, Parasto Ahmadi was arrested for not wearing a hijab during her virtual concert on YouTube. Her lawyer stated that she had posted a video of her concert online, in which she was not wearing a hijab. A case was filed against her on Thursday.
The singer was detained on Saturday in the city of Sari, located in the Mazandaran province of Iran. Media reports indicate that her lawyer claimed two male musicians from Tehran were also arrested on the same day.
It’s important to note that after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, wearing the hijab became mandatory by law in Iran.
