In a past interview, Bollywood veteran actress and Indian politician Jaya Bachchan expressed her anger towards Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan, saying that if he had been at her house, she would have slapped him.
Jaya Bachchan was upset with Shah Rukh Khan because of her daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai. Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai not only carved a unique place for themselves in the Indian film industry but also won the hearts of audiences with their on-screen pairings in films like Josh, Mohabbatein, Devdas, and Shakti: The Power. However, in the early 2000s, their relationship soured for reasons that remain unknown to this day.
After their relationship deteriorated, they stopped working together, and personally, they also distanced themselves. Aishwarya Rai revealed in an interview that she had been removed from five films due to Shah Rukh Khan, including Chalte Chalte and Veer Zaara. However, Shah Rukh later apologized to Aishwarya, and the matter was resolved.
When Jaya Bachchan was asked in an interview in 2008 whether she was still upset with Shah Rukh Khan, she replied affirmatively, saying, “Yes, I am still upset. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him about this yet, but I will soon. And if Shah Rukh came to my house, I would slap him, just as I would slap my son Abhishek.”
She further mentioned that the issue with Shah Rukh Khan was deeply personal, with a spiritual bond that she considered her weakness. Regarding Shah Rukh’s absence at her son Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s wedding, Jaya Bachchan had candidly stated that if possible, she would have changed the wedding date just to invite him.
