WhatsApp tests file sharing without internet feature

WhatsApp, owned by messaging service Meta, is experimenting with a new feature that allows users to share files including videos, photos, documents and other media to nearby smartphones without internet.

This feature is very similar to the air drop feature on the iPhone. This feature was first seen in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android in April 2024.

Now, this file sharing without the Internet feature, named “nearby share”, is being experimented with in the beta version of iOS.

This feature is very useful for users who do not have internet access in remote areas or have poor internet coverage.

This feature allows you to share files with your loved ones or professional acquaintances without having to worry about internet coverage.

This feature will work differently on iPhones and Android devices.
