WASA Punjab Chairman Briefs CM Maryam Nawaz on Monsoon Emergency Measures

LAHORE: Chairman WASA Punjab Nawabzada Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, MPA, met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umrah, alongside former Federal Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid, and briefed her on public welfare initiatives and ongoing monsoon emergency arrangements.

During the meeting, the WASA chairman highlighted the measures being taken to ensure effective drainage and uninterrupted civic services during the monsoon season.

He said dedicated WASA teams have been deployed across districts to respond to rain-related emergencies, maintain drainage systems and address water accumulation in affected areas.

Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for providing modern machinery and operational vehicles to WASA Punjab. He said the additional resources have significantly enhanced the authority’s field capacity, response capabilities and operational efficiency.

The meeting also reviewed WASA’s preparedness to deal with heavy rainfall and potential urban flooding, with emphasis on timely response and maintaining essential civic services for citizens.

The WASA chairman reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring effective monsoon management and providing prompt relief and drainage services to the public during periods of heavy rainfall.
