The Islamabad Transport Authority has granted transport operators an additional week to complete mandatory vehicle emission testing and install M-Tags, easing compliance pressure after widespread concerns from bus terminals and operators.
One-Week Extension for Transport Operators
Inter-city, inter-district, and inter-provincial transport services have been given seven days to meet the requirements. Officials emphasized that the extension is final and warned that non-compliance will lead to strict penalties, including cancellation of bus stand No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
Daily Reporting Requirements
The ITA has directed all bus terminals to submit daily updates on both emission testing and M-Tag installation. This measure is intended to ensure transparency and track progress across the transport sector.
Enforcement and Legal Action
Authorities have made clear that failure to comply within the extended deadline will trigger legal consequences. The initiative is part of broader efforts to regulate emissions, improve road safety, and streamline toll collection systems.
