Upper Hazara Forest Patrol Squad Seizes Vehicle Carrying Illegally Transported Blue Pine Timber

MANSEHRA: The Patrol Squad of the Upper Hazara Forest Circle, Mansehra, seized a Toyota Hiace loaded with allegedly illegally transported Blue Pine timber during an operation on the night of October 4, 2026.

The operation was conducted under the overall supervision and guidance of Divisional Forest Officer Zohaib Hassan to prevent the illegal transportation and smuggling of forest produce through the Hazara Expressway towards Punjab.

According to the department, the patrol team spotted the vehicle during routine patrolling and signalled the driver to stop for inspection. However, the driver allegedly ignored the lawful order and attempted to flee.

Demonstrating alertness and professional commitment, the patrol team immediately pursued the vehicle to prevent its escape.

During the chase, a suspected pilot vehicle repeatedly obstructed the squad’s progress, apparently attempting to help the timber-laden Toyota Hiace escape. Despite these obstacles, the team managed to get past the suspected vehicle and continued the pursuit.

The operation eventually led to the Toyota Hiace being stopped after its tyres were damaged, allowing the patrol team to take the vehicle into custody.

The action highlights the vigilance and operational readiness of the Upper Hazara Forest Patrol Squad in checking the illegal transportation of forest resources through the Hazara Expressway.

The department’s efforts are aimed at curbing timber smuggling and protecting forest resources from illegal exploitation.
