Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah‘s participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy seems increasingly uncertain due to fitness concerns.
Reports suggest that Bumrah, who suffered from back pain during the fifth Test match of India’s tour of Australia, may not be fully fit in time for the mega event. India had named Bumrah in their squad for the England ODI series and the Champions Trophy, but recent reports have raised doubts about his availability. It is now being said that if Bumrah manages to recover in time for the Champions Trophy, which starts on February 19, it would be a miracle.
In addition to Bumrah, another Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, is also struggling with fitness issues. Shami has not played since the World Cup final in November 2023. He was included in the squad for the 5-match T20 series against England but has not featured in the playing eleven for the first two matches, leading to speculations about his fitness. However, Sithanshu, a team insider, confirmed that there were no issues with Shami’s bowling during practice sessions.
