Brussels: Australian actress and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett said in an address to the European Parliament that an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza should be implemented.
According to the World News Agency, while speaking in the European Parliament, Cate Blanchett expressed deep concern and sadness over the deaths and destruction during the Israel-Hamas clash in Gaza.
UN High Commissioner for Refugees Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett also demanded the immediate release of Israeli hostages from Hamas and urged European countries to play their part in an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
UN Goodwill Ambassador and actress Cate Blanchett added that millions of people in Gaza have been displaced and are looking for a safe place. There is no provision for children’s health, food, water.
Cate Blanchett said that an immediate ceasefire is essential to reach a solution to this problem. This will allow the displaced people to move to a safe place and children will be able to get food, medicine and water.
Remember that due to Israel’s blockade, Gaza is facing shortage of water, food and fuel. Hospitals are closed and more than 600,000 people are homeless, on which international forces are demanding an immediate ceasefire from Israel.
