NORTH WAZIRISTAN: A team from the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Upscaling Green Pakistan Programme (UGPP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, visited various nurseries of the North Waziristan Forest Division to review progress and field-level implementation of nursery activities under the programme.
The team visited tube, bare-rooted, fruit and ornamental nurseries and assessed nursery infrastructure, plant production, species diversity and ongoing operational activities.
The visiting team was accompanied by the Divisional Forest Officer, North Waziristan Forest Division, along with the Range Forest Officer, Sub Division Wazir Range, Bannu.
During the field visit, Forest Department officials briefed the PMU team on the progress of nursery development and arrangements for producing quality planting stock. The nurseries are raising fruit, ornamental and other suitable tree species for future plantation and greening initiatives.
The visit also provided an opportunity to review the practical implementation of nursery activities and identify areas for further strengthening.
Quality nurseries play an important role in supporting plantation programmes by providing healthy planting material. The Forest Department said it remains committed to improving nursery facilities, promoting sustainable plantation activities and contributing to the Green Pakistan vision through effective implementation of UGPP in North Waziristan.
