According to foreign media, judges of a court ruled that animals are not humans, so laws regarding unlawful imprisonment do not apply to them. Reports indicate that animal rights advocates wanted to free aging elephants from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado. The Non-Human Rights Project (NRP) argued that the elephants should be moved to a sanctuary. On Tuesday, the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling referred to human laws, stating that the Habeas Corpus law applies only to humans, not animals. Under the Habeas Corpus law, no person can be unlawfully imprisoned.
