Islamabad: The Competition Commission has imposed hefty fines on two major companies manufacturing frozen desserts.
According to a statement issued by the Competition Commission, the companies were marketing their frozen desserts as ice cream. As a result, one company was fined PKR 95 million, while the other was fined PKR 75 million.
The statement further mentioned that both companies are required to clearly label their products as frozen desserts and disclose their ingredients.
Under food quality standards, ice cream is made only from milk and other dairy products, whereas frozen desserts contain vegetable oil and fats.
