Bollywood actress and author Twinkle Khanna recently shared her thoughts on the societal habit of comparing the skin tones of her children. She revealed that people often compare the skin color of her son and daughter, but she teaches them to embrace who they are, no matter how they look.
Twinkle, who is married to actor Akshay Kumar, has two children: 22-year-old son Aarav and 12-year-old daughter Nitara. Despite both siblings being from the same parents, they have noticeably different skin tones. Aarav has a fair complexion, while Nitara’s skin tone is slightly darker.
In a conversation with the media, Twinkle recalled a time when her family was at the beach. Aarav was applying sunscreen, and Nitara remarked that she didn’t need as much because her skin doesn’t burn as easily.
Twinkle explained how much she learned after becoming a mother, especially with her first child. She said, “When my daughter was born, I realized she looked like a regular Indian girl, and from then on, my children’s skin color has always been compared.”
She emphasized that such comparisons are common in Indian society, and she wants to reassure her daughter that she is wonderful just as she is. Twinkle even told her daughter that she is as beautiful as the famous Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, to boost her confidence and self-love.
