The Trump administration recently removed public health data from government websites, leading to a lawsuit filed against former U.S. President Donald Trump by Doctors for America (DFA).
The lawsuit, filed by the Public Citizen Litigation Group on behalf of DFA, names the Office of Personnel Management, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as defendants.
DFA is an advocacy organization supporting universal health coverage, affordability, quality, and equity.
In the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Washington, DFA and PCLG argued that removing health web pages and data has created a dangerous gap in scientific information needed for monitoring and responding to disease outbreaks.
They stated that the move has deprived doctors of crucial resources that guide clinical practice and serve as key tools for patient communication and engagement.
