TikTok removes 93.5% of videos as per Pakistan’s government requests

To maintain community standards and comply with local regulations, TikTok has been actively working with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for the past six months, as outlined in a recent transparency report.

Between July and December 2023, TikTok received 303 requests from the Pakistani government, resulting in 93.5% of the reported content being removed.

This proactive approach demonstrates TikTok’s commitment to addressing concerns raised by local authorities about inappropriate or sensitive content on its platform.

According to the “Government Removal Request Report” on TikTok’s website, a total of 12,392 pieces of content were removed for violating community guidelines, and 2,162 pieces were removed for violating local laws. In addition, TikTok suspended 270 accounts for violating community guidelines and 59 accounts for violating local laws during this period.

TikTok’s Q4 2023 Q4 2023 Final Guidelines Compliance Report further highlights its strong content management efforts globally, boasting 99.5% active content violations. This proactive attitude aims to maintain a safe and respectful environment for users worldwide, including Pakistan.
