Senior Pakistani actor Humayun Saeed stated that the relationship between a hero and heroine is based on character, not age.
In a conversation at an event, the veteran actor expressed that in Pakistan, there are different perceptions about heroes and heroines, unlike in other countries, especially in the West.
He explained that, in reality, there is no connection between a hero and heroine’s age, but in Pakistan, it’s often believed that a hero is someone paired with a younger heroine.
Humayun Saeed pointed out that in Hollywood, even actors over the age of 65, like Denzel Washington and Kevin Costner, are still cast as heroes, and similarly, Meryl Streep is cast as a heroine.
He added that the decision to cast someone in a lead role is made by the director or producer, who first assess which actor or actress will meet their expectations.
