DI KHAN: In a harrowing incident in Dera Ismail Khan, terrorists launched a brazen attack on a police station in Tehsil Daraban in the wee hours of Monday, leading to a tense situation with law enforcement agencies.
The attack left ten police officers dead and six others injured. Injured police officers from the district police and elite police were given immediate medical attention.
The martyrs include Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Fareed, Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Idris, Muhammad Imran, Safdar, ASI Kausar, Ahtram Syed, Rafiullah and Hameed-ul-Haq.
The attackers targeted the facility with hand grenades and also opened fire on police officers. The snipers targeted the police stationed on the roof of the police station. The shootout between the police and the attackers lasted a grueling two and a half hours.
The police line has sent a significant number of personnel to reinforce the Daraban police station. The Chief Secretary and Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also immediately left for Daraban to assess the situation firsthand and coordinate efforts to neutralize the menace.
The situation remains volatile and authorities are actively involved in efforts to bring perpetrators to justice and ensure public safety. The resilience and bravery shown by the police force in the face of this heinous attack underscores the determination to maintain law and order in the region.
